Valley View’s Torre signs with North Texas SC

Former Valley View forward Pablo Torre has found his new home. After forgoing his senior season, Torre was officially announced Friday as the latest signee for North Texas SC, a professional men’s soccer club out of Arlington which plays in the newly formed MLS Next Pro League.

Torre joins the team, which operates as the reserve club for Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas, on a two-year deal with an option for the 2024 season

The star striker caught the attention of the club during a week-long trial run mid-February, signing with the team not long after.

Just one week after signing his deal, Torre made his debut with North Texas SC, playing 45 minutes during the team’s preseason contest against the Tulsa Hurricanes on Feb. 26.

Torre’s impact was felt almost immediately, netting his first professional goal during the 63rd minute of the match. He was still only 17 at the time, celebrating his 18th birthday on March 2.

Torre joins the club after a decorated career with Valley View, starting for the Tigers during each of his four seasons. Earlier this year, Torre decided to cut his senior season short and pursue other avenues.

During his time at Valley View, Torre helped the Tigers advance to the UIL Class 5A state tournament during his freshman and junior years, with his sophomore campaign ending prematurely due to cancellation amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last season, Torre scored a Valley-leading 37 goals in 14 district games, adding 12 during the Tigers’ state tournament run. He was named The Monitor’s 2021 All-Area Boys Soccer Player of the Year and the 2021 All-Valley Soccer Player of the Year for his efforts.

This season, Torre helped the Tigers to a 5-0-0 start before leaving the team, scoring seven goals. During what would be his final high school game Feb. 11, Torre record a hat trick, leading the Tigers past McAllen Memorial 11-0.

Torre, who is still a senior in high school, plans to finish the semester virtually and earn his diploma.
