The RGVSports.com Week 3 Game of the Week features two undefeated teams ready to battle for a 3-0 start to the season as the Donna North Chief play host to the Brownsville Porter Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Benny La Prade Stadium in Donna.
Both teams have already equaled their win totals from last season with two. The Chiefs have entered unchartered waters. This is the first time Donna North has won its first two games. The program started in 2014.
Donna North, under third-year coach Juan Cuevas, picked up wins against Edinburg Economedes 26-6 and La Joya Juarez-Lincoln 14-9. Donna North’s Marco Aguilar rushed for three touchdowns and running back Marc Ibarra ran for more than 100 yards during a win over Economedes.
Brownsville Porter has been there before under sixth-year coach Carlos Uresti. In 2019, the Cowboys won five games and during the COVID-19 shortened season in 2020, the Cowboys won the first three games of the season.
The Cowboys are led by seniors Alejandro Stevens and Gunnar Williams. The pair combined for more than 250 yards on the ground and five touchdowns. Stevens had four touchdowns during a 34-13 win over PJSA Memorial.
