After weeks of man-made and hurricane-related delays, the Mission Consolidated Independent School District will learn Wednesday if Tom Landry Stadium will be open to host the final Mission High and Mission Veterans home games of the 2017 season.
The Mission Veterans football Twitter account, @MVetsFootball, tweeted pictures of the new bleachers and press box at Tom Landry Stadium late Tuesday morning. The last sentence of the accompanying tweet read, “We are HOPEFUL that we will be able to play at home on Nov. 3!”
Mission High’s last home game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday against La Joya Palmview. Mission CISD athletic Leticia Ibarra said Tuesday if the stadium isn’t ready for Friday, the game will be played at Bill Pate Stadium in Hidalgo on the same date and time as previously scheduled.
The Mission Veterans home finale is Nov. 3 against Sharyland High, the only other undefeated team in District 31-5A competition at 5-0. If the stadium isn’t ready to host that matchup, the game will be played at Valley View ISD Stadium in Hidalgo, according to Ibarra. Game time would remain at 7:30 p.m.
