The 10th annual RGV All-Star softball game, with 45 players representing 30 teams, is set to take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the La Joya Softball Complex in La Joya.

The West team, which has a 6-3 head-to-head series advantage over the East squad, is expected to carry 23 players from 17 teams, including three from Edinburg North, three from Mission Veterans, and two apiece from Edinburg Vela and Sharyland High.

Edinburg North’s Jaqui Chapa, Carolina Flores and Haley A. Dennett are expected to compete for the West, along with Mission Veterans’ Maritza Bazan, Alysson S. Moreno and Leandra Hinojosa. They’re expected to be joined by Edinburg Vela’s Lyssa M. Garcia and Audrey Aguirre, and Sharyland High’s Roxanna Chapa and Krystal Coronado.

Sharyland High coach Paul Cruz will guide the West team, while Edcouch-Elsa’s Joey Palacios will lead the East.

San Benito will have the largest representation on the East team, with Ali Huerta, Melanie Gonzalez, Crystal Castillo and Jav’ana Gonzalez.
