Sharyland High senior pitcher and infielder Cole Gerlach signed to play baseball at Wharton County Junior College on May 15 at Sharyland High School.
Wharton County Junior College is located in Wharton, Texas and competes in Region 14 of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Gerlach, a four-year baseball letterman who also played football, batted .406 this season with 43 hits, 28 runs and 27 RBIs. On the mound, he put together a 6-0 record in 12 appearances with a 2.40 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched.
Gerlach was named District 31-5A’s Defensive Player of the Year during his senior season. He helped Sharyland win the District 31-5A championship and post an overall record of 27-7.
