Sharyland Pioneer ranked 6th in THSBCA Pre-Season Poll

The Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA) released its 2020 Pre-Season 5A-6A Top 10 Baseball Polls on Monday. One Rio Grande Valley team made the cut, while two tradition-rich programs landed in the receiving votes category in their respective class.

After advancing to the 5A State Tournament just a season ago, the Sharyland Pioneer Diamondbacks are ranked 6th at the 5A level, according to the THSBCA Pre-Season Poll. The Diamondbacks ended the 2019 season with a 37-10 record as their run ended against Georgetown in the state semi-finals.

In the others receiving votes category in 5A is Sharyland High, a team who advanced to the fifth round of the postseason just last year. The Rattlers put together a 34-8 record in 2019, ultimately falling to Pioneer in the Region IV Final.

At the 6A level, McAllen High lands just outside the THSBCA Top 10 Pre-Season Rankings as the Bulldogs fall in the others receiving votes category. McHi finished with a 25-10-1 overall record last season, losing in the second round of the playoffs to Edinburg Vela.

The Bulldogs, Diamondbacks and Rattlers all have promising groups of players returning this year, giving RGV baseball fans a lot to look forward to as the 2020 season quickly approaches.
