The Texas Sports Writers Association released their Class 5A football All-State team on Thursday. Several Valley players were among those chosen to the team.
Edcouch-Elsa junior guard Ricky Estimbo headlined the group by earning a spot on the third team offense.
The Yellowjackets had eight players named to the team overall. The other seven players were on the honorable mention list. They were junior offensive tackle Justin Ortiz, senior center Elijah Sanchez, senior quarterback Marco Aguinaga, senior defensive lineman Seth Garcia, senior linebacker Joel Cardoza and senior defensive backs RJ Ayala and Nathaniel Rodriguez.
Mission Veterans had three players on the honorable mention list. They were senior quarterback Diego Hernandez and senior wide receivers Roman De Leon and Jacob Guerrero.
Mercedes has one representative, junior linebacker Roger Adame III.
