Hector Pecina’s go-ahead 11-yard run with 1:22 left lifted PSJA Southwest over Brownsville Porter 21-7 on Thursday at Sams Stadium in Brownsville.

The Javelinas improved to 4-2 overall, 2-1 in District 32-5A. Southwest has doubled its season-high in wins. It had two wins its inaugural year in 2012.

The Cowboys fell to 2-4, 1-2 in district.

EDCOUCH-ELSA 30, DONNA NORTH 0: At Donna, the Yellowjackets won their fourth game in a row with a methodical rout of the Chiefs at Bennie La Prade Stadium.

Andrew Segura had a couple touchdowns to lead E-E. It was his second straight game with two touchdowns in a game.

“He’s a playmaker,” E-E coach Joe Marichalar said. “What can you say about him? He plays offense, plays defense and returns kicks.”

Yellowjacket defensive backs Victor Valdez and Noe Rodriguez collected an interception apiece.

PSJA HIGH 42, BROWNSVILLE PACE 14: At Pharr, senior linebacker Christian Sanchez and Eric Castillo each returned interceptions for touchdowns and the Bears rolled the Vikings at PSJA Stadium.

PSJA High improved to 4-2 overall, 2-1 in 32-5A. Pace fell to 1-5, 0-3.

McALLEN MEMORIAL 45, LA JOYA JUAREZ-LINCOLN 7: At McAllen, the Mustangs dominated the second half to improve to 6-1 overall, 3-0 in District 30-6A.

Memorial led 19-7 at halftime.

Juarez-Lincoln fell to 0-6, 0-3.
