RGVSports.com’s All-Valley girls basketball 1st and 2nd teams

1st Team
Samantha Gutierrez, La Joya Palmview (Jr. Guard)
Averaged 15.9 points, 2.4 assists and 2 steals per games in leading the Lady Lobos to their first playoff appearance. Named Offensive Player of the Year in District 30-6A.

Ariel Rodriguez, Edinburg Vela (Sr. Guard)
The highest-scoring player among Valley UIL teams with 17.9 points per game. Led the Lady SaberCats to a 12-0 district record in District 31-5A and was unanimously voted the district MVP.

Briana Cortez, Brownsville Veterans (Jr. Guard)
Named this year’s All-Metro MVP by The Brownsville Herald and made all-district first team for District 32-6A. Averaged 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 steals.

Ruayda Bouls, Harlingen South (Sr. Post)
Awarded the District 32-6A MVP. Was the leading scorer for the Lady Hawks, averaging 16.5 points in addition to 8.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals. Harlingen South finished the regular season with an overall record of 22-12.

Summer Vento, Mercedes (Sr. Post)
Averaged 9.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5 blocks per game during District 32-5A competition, where she was named the district’s Offensive Player of the Year. Helped the Lady Tigers to back-to-back district titles.
