The Port Isabel Tarpons lost 7-0 to the Robstown Cotton Pickers in Game 2 of their best-of-three bi-district series Saturday in Port Isabel.
The loss marks the end of the season for the young P.I. team, which lost Game 1 of the series Friday.
“(Robstown) did a good job,” Port Isabel coach Robert Holland said. “We hit the ball, but they made plays.”
The Tarpons were locked in a scoreless tie with the Cotton Pickers until the fifth inning. Port Isabel committed three of its four errors during the fifth, leading to its defeat.
Overall, Holland is happy with where his team stands.
“It was a good year,” he said. “We’re very young. We have no seniors. We had a freshman pitch (Saturday), and a sophomore pitched (Friday). Our youth showed, but overall it was a good year. We’re happy.”
