AUSTIN – La Joya Palmview’s Destiny Quintanilla earned a spot at the Class 5A UIL state track meet as a wildcard.
The senior made the most of her opportunity, taking home the silver in the girls 3,200-meter run.
Silva finished in 10 minutes, 49.07 seconds, second only to Cedar Park’s Isabel Conde De Frankerberg.
Quintanilla jockeyed for position with a group of five athletes through the first six laps before making her move and taking control of second and holding on for the victory.
The Lobos’ distance runner is set to compete in the 1,600-meter run later this evening.
