While McAllen Memorial and Edinburg Vela are the top two teams in the RGVSports.com Top 10 poll for a fifth straight week, there was some movement among the top five heading into Week 5.

Harlingen High, coming off an impressive win over McAllen High, jumped a spot to No. 3, swapping places with Los Fresnos, which was idle last week. McAllen Memorial remains the top team with six first-place votes, while Edinburg Vela stayed in second with one first-place vote. Each team is 4-0.

Brownsville Veterans Memorial stayed in place at No. 5, as did Weslaco High at No. 6. Roma, 4-0 for the first time in the program’s history, jumped up two spots to No. 7. Roma visits Rio Grande City for its district opener on Friday for The Monitor’s Game of the Week.

San Benito, idle last week, dropped a slot to No. 8, while Sharyland High also slipped one to No. 9 despite a 16-14 win at Laredo Alexander. Mission Veterans Memorial makes its season debut in the poll at No. 10. The Patriots are 3-1.
