The Mission Veterans Memorial girls wrestling team and the Rio Grande City boys team won the District 16-5A duals tournament on Saturday at Corpus Christi Moody.
The Lady Patriots defeated Rio Grande City 36-24. Grulla finished in third place, and Edinburg Vela was fourth.
On the boys side, Rio Grande City beat PSJA High 43-23 to win their third consecutive district duals title. Sharyland Pioneer nabbed third place. Grulla finished fourth.
The meet comes less than two weeks before the District 16-5A and 16-6A tournaments.
On Feb. 5, Sharyland High will host the two-day 5A tournament beginning at 8 a.m. Mission High hosts the 6A tournament at the same day and time.
