Ryan Meza and Jose Diaz led the Santa Rosa Warriors to a 21-0 victory over the Progreso Red Ants on Friday night.

Diaz and Meza rushed for more than 100 yards on the night and helped the Warriors improve to 2-2 on the season.

“ We’ve had some tough opponents to open the season, but our kids stayed positive and kept grinding,” Santa Rosa coach Hector Ayala said. “We exploded on offense against La Villa and executed really well. Against Progreso, our defense did a great job of keeping them out of the end zone.

“ It took us a bit to get going offensively (against Progreso), but I feel we are headed in the right direction heading into district play. Hopefully we can put our offense and defense together with special teams, and make a run in district and the playoffs.”

Next week the Warriors start district action against Odem at home.
