HARLINGEN — East Valley athletes competed in the UIL state swimming & diving meet on Friday.
Athletes from Brownsville Veterans Memorial, Brownsville Hanna, Los Fresnos, Harlingen High and Harlingen South competed at the University of Texas in Austin.
Brownsville Veterans junior David Perez finished 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke and will be competing today. Senior diver Makayla Schaelchlin also qualified for the second day, sitting in 13th place.
Los Fresnos Lady Falcons junior swimmer Jada Ashford qualified for today’s 100 butterfly race with a time of 56.67 seconds.
