La Feria’s Bianca and Briana Bruno way more than teammates

For La Feria golfers and sisters Briana and Bianca Bruno, golf has not only made them better athletes, it has also brought them closer together.

What began as a fun hobby that the pair shared with their father, has helped the sisters (Briana is a senior and Bianca a freshman) blossom into legitimate golfing competitors for coach David Briones.

“They both put in the work required on their own time,” said Briones. “When they’re not at regular practice, they’re out there putting in that extra time on the course. They both love it and they both enjoy going out and playing with their family.”

Q: How long have you been playing golf?

Briana: I actually started playing during my eighth grade year because it was a little hobby that my family and I had.

Q: What made you want to play golf?

Bianca: My dad always played when I was little, so it inspired me to play and join the team. It’s one of my favorite things to do now. He teaches me more every time and we get to have more one-on-one time.

Q: What is your favorite moment since you began playing for La Feria?

Briana: My favorite moment was being able to introduce my favorite sport to my boyfriend because I was able to actually teach and share my love for golf.

Q: What’s your freshman season been like?

Bianca: It’s great. I’ve learned a lot from my dad and the coaches. Plus, it’s great to play against girls from other cities.

Q: How do you feel about your younger sister being on the same golf team?

Briana: It’s been a great experience. Being able to play together and practice with each other has made us closer. It has also made her a better player because I’m able to aid her and push her to be better.

Q: What do you like most about being part of this golf team?

Bianca: I love how we all get along with each other and can play the game that we love.

Q: Do you plan on playing golf after graduation?

Briana: I do plan on playing after I graduate because it is just a relaxing sport to be a part of.

Q: What is your goal for this year in golf?

Bianca: My goal is to become a better player and hit under 100.

Q: What is your goal?

Briana: To make it to regionals once again and to state with my golf team. Going to regionals will be a great experience because I get to be with my friends and get to play with people who love the sport as much as I do.

Q: How do you like going out and playing golf with your dad?

Briana: We really enjoy going out to the course because we get to spend quality time together. My dad is the person who inspired and pushed me to play golf. Playing with him and my sister is amazing because he is able to push her as well.
