Football notes: Wet weather forces some change of plans

Tropical depression Harvey might still be churning in the Gulf of Mexico, however the effects from the storm are already causing local football fans to wonder about the implications it might have on this week’s games.

While some schools have yet to make any decisions, others are moving forward with their current schedules.

4A GAMES:

— The La Feria Lions are on course to play tonight’s game against Brownsville Lopez, however the only real change to the schedule is its kickoff time. The game was set for a 7:30 p.m. start, but it has been moved up to 6:30 at Lions Stadium.

— The Rio Hondo Bobcats finds themselves on the move as well. The original contest against Valley View and Lyford was scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m., however it has since been rescheduled for tonight at 6:30 at Valley View.

— The Raymondville Bearkats vs. Brownsville Porter game has not changed and is set for Friday. However, should it be rescheduled it would be played Saturday.

3A GAMES:

— The Lyford Bulldogs tri-match against Rio Hondo and Valley View will be played tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium in Pharr.

Santa Rosa’s game against Zapata remains scheduled for Friday at 5 at Zapata.

2A GAMES:

Santa Maria’s game against Benavides is on course for tonight. The Cougars are set to host the Eagles at home with a 6 p.m. kickoff time.

La Villa is another team that saw its schedule affected by Tropical storm Harvey. The Cardinals’ game against Hebbronville has been moved up to tonight at 6 p.m. at home.
