Sharyland High-Edinburg Vela isn’t just The Monitor’s Game of the Week. It’s also DQ’s Big Game of the Week.
The Friday night matchup won’t be televised. Instead, it’ll be featured in a 5-minute segment that airs on High School Scoreboard Live, a one-hour Texas high school football highlight show, which airs on Fox Sports Southwest.
The District 31-5A opener pits RGVSports.com’s No. 2-ranked team in Sharyland against Vela, tied for No. 5, at Richard Thompson Stadium.
The DQ Big Game of the Week feature is in its 12th season. The crew, led by Fox Sports Southwest reporter Neil Beasley, travels to games on a 48-foot luxury promotional bus. Beasley will be joined by two Fox Sports Southwest Girls, who will provide social media throughout the game.
The crew aims to capture the big-game atmosphere for its behind-the-scenes segment, which airs at midnight Friday and replayed at 9 a.m. Saturday. It will also be featured in High School Spotlight, a 30-minute Texas high school magazine show airing on FSSW at 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. Monday.
