DONNA — The Rio Grande Valley Basketball Coaches Association on Sunday announced their top 10 preseason poll, with Edinburg Vela’s boys and Weslaco High’s girls coming in at No. 1.
Despite returning only three players, McAllen Rowe’s boys were projected as the No. 2 team. Harlingen South was selected third. Sharyland High, McAllen Memorial, McAllen High, Edinburg North, Los Fresnos, La Joya Palmview and Brownsville Hanna, respectively, rounded up the group.
Brownsville Veterans’ girls were tabbed the second-best team in the Valley. Harlingen High, Los Fresnos, Sharyland High, Edinburg Vela, Mission Veterans, Mercedes, Edinburg North and Weslaco East followed.
Also, Marine Military Academy coach Mo Molina was inducted into the RGVBCA Hall of Fame on Sunday.
