“Amity has had four races this year and has won all four. She continues to work toward the bigger meets that lie head. We have many girls on the team who work hard and she is constantly pushed in practice by her teammates who all have one common goal.” — Weslaco High head coach Pablo Almaguer

Boys Runner of the Week

Senior Rosendo Rodriguez of La Joya Palmview ran a personal best time of 15 minutes, 49.2 seconds at the Palmview Invitational

“(There’s) something special about him: His work ethic, iron lungs and mental toughness. Rosendo has come a long way, he’s the hardest worker in the the room. Running countless miles all summer long in the Texas heat and setting the tone for all his teammates especially the freshmen. He is the definition of a student athlete, he is sound in the classroom and has his ACT/SAT in check. — Jorge Cantú, boys cross country head coach at La Joya Palmview
