SANTA ROSA — Come May 11th-12th Santa Rosa will be represented once again at the UIL State track meet in Austin.

Alex Ayala will be competing for the Warriors in the 300 hurdles for the second consecutive time after finishing in second place at the regional tournament. However his performance is nothing new for the senior who has a long list of impressive performances.

Ayala finished first in the 300m hurtles at the District 32-3A meet, first in the 300m hurdles in area and second in regionals. Prior to district, the senior finished fourth in the PSJA relays in the 300m hurdles, third at Harlingen relays, first in the Rio Hondo relays, first at the La Feria relays and fourth at the Meet of Champions.

“ The success that Alex has had this year is due to his hard work and determination,” said head coach Robbie Mesa. “Everyday he gives max effort and continues to push and challenge himself to achieve his ultimate goal of becoming a state champion hurdler.

“ We are very proud of him and we’re excited to see him run next week.”

Ayala competes at 7:05 p.m. next Friday in Austin.
