Donna North cross country athletes Ricardo Rubio and Jose Torres signed national letters of intent to run and continue their academic careers at Texas A&M University Texarkana on Wednesday at Donna North High School. Texas A&M Texarkana is an NAIA school which competes in the Red River Athletic Conference.
The pair of Chiefs runners were regional qualifiers after finishing in fifth and eighth place, respectively, at the UIL District 32-6A Meet this past season. The Chiefs boys cross country team won the 2021 District 32-6A championship.
Rubio (16:58.40) and Torres (17:26.77) helped lead Donna North to a seventh-place team finish at the UIL Region IV-6A Meet in October.
