In House: Ramirez elevated to Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Brownsville Veterans Memorial

Brownsville ISD is staying in Brownsville by hiring Brownsville native JC Ramirez as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for Brownsville Veterans Memorial.

Ramirez, was the defensive coordinator in 2022 for the Chargers under former Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Kelley Lee. Ramirez, the current vice-president of the Rio Grande Valley Coaches Association, takes over a sporting program and head coaching position for the first time in his career.

“It is a tremendous honor,” Ramirez said. “I see it as a great privilege to get this specific job. I was part of the original coaching staff that opened the school. I spent a vast part of my career here. So, this was not just a job for me, but the job for me – because of how much of my career has been spent as a Charger.”

Ramirez is ready to lead a program enriched in excellence at every level, from the administration to the teachers and to the students, he said.

“Not just the football team, but the entire program. A program that has been consistent year and year out, so it is a great, great honor,” Ramirez added.
