Reyes signs with Coastal Bend

LOS FRESNOS — Los Fresnos senior Cory Reyes had the urge to continue playing volleyball after a successful senior season individually and with her team.

Playing her last game with the Falcons cemented that urge. Reyes signed with Coastal Bend College on Friday at Los Fresnos High School.

“I am honored to be in this position,” she said. “I have looked up to my sister, she plays softball at St. Mary’s. I want to keep performing and playing, especially because my parents have always supported us. I just love being on the court and putting work in.”

Reyes’ sister Reba Reyes is a junior starting outfielder for St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.

Reyes received District 32-6A’s Defensive Player of the Year honors for her performances as libero or on the back line on a team that was ranked in the top 25 multiple times in 2022.

Reyes loved her time in Los Fresnos, the support from the community and the help from her biggest mentor, Los Fresnos head coach Anissa Lucio stood out the most, Reyes said.

“She has helped me a lot, and coached me a lot,” Reyes said. “I really loved playing here and do not regret anything.”
