The rosters for the Baseball Coaches Association of the Rio Grande Valley’s annual annual All-Star game were released Tuesday, with several East Valley seniors among the selections for the 5A/6A and Sub-5A East rosters.
District 32-6A champion Rivera will be represented by second baseman Jose Hernandez, shortstop Michael Gomez, catcher Ricky Ibarra and outfielder Raul Gonzalez.
Brownsville Veterans Memorial, the District 32-5A champions, will send first baseman Ruben Gallegos and pitcher Justin Anaya. District 32-5A Pitcher of the Year Cesar Lartigue of Porter also was named to the East team.
The East 5A/6A roster features five Los Fresnos Falcons, including Our Lady of the Lake commit and second baseman Sebastian Ledesma, third baseman Isaac Franco, left fielder Lee Trevino, right fielder Johnny Cadengo, and pitcher Alex Salas. The Falcons finished in third place in District 32-6A and made a run to the Region IV quarterfinal round of the Class 6A University Interscholastic League playoffs.
Also in 32-6A, Hanna utility player Marco Sanchez, a first team All-District selection, and Jaime Uvalle, a second-team All-District shortstop earned spots on the East roster.
Representing the East Valley on the Sub-5A roster in District 32-4A are Port Isabel’s Daniel Martinez and Brett Martinez.
