Melanie Salinas had 11 kills and nine blocks to lead Hidalgo to a sweep over Pleasanton 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 in the Class 4A state volleyball tournament area round Thursday at Tuloso-Midway.
The Pirates will play in the regional quarterfinals against Navarro, site and time to be announced.
Jackie Garcia added 12 kills and Vanessa Espinoza had 10 kills, 12 digs and seven points for the Pirates (32-9).
Ynarra Moya contributed 26 digs and 12 points, while Soleil Garza led the setters with 24 assists and 18 digs.
GREGORY PORTLAND 3, EDCOUCH-ELSA 0: At Alice, Gregory-Portland swept Edcouch-Elsa, ending the Yellow Jackets’ season at 35-10.
Gregory Portland came into the contest ranked No. 4 in Class 5A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and defeated Calhoun in the bi-district round.

VICTORIA WEST 3, SHARYLAND PIONEER 0: At Kingsville, Sharyland Pioneer’s season came to an end with a three-game sweep against Victoria West in the area round.
The Diamondbacks end their season with a 33-11 record after having finished second in District 31-5A. Victoria West was ranked No. 10 in Class 5A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. It defeated Corpus Christ Calallen in the bi-district round.

SAN ISIDRO 3, BRACKETVILLE 2: At Collett, San Isidro advanced to the regional quarterfinals with a tough 25-20, 21-25, 24-26, 25-14, 18-16 win.
San Isidro’s opponent and site will be announced.
