2 La Villa football players named to All-State teams

The Associated Press released its annual All-State teams Sunday and two La Villa Players made the list.

Junior linebacker Bryan Hinojosa made the All-State First-Team Defense. This season, Hinojosa had 163 tackles, 105 solo tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 2 fumbles caused and 2 interceptions.

Sophomore defensive lineman Roman Guerrero made the All-State Honorable Mention Defensive Team. Guerrero had 47 solo tackles, 78 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 2 caused fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.

La Villa went 4-7 overall and 3-1 in District 16-2A DI. The Cardinals made it to the playoff, where they faced off with Yorktown in the bi-district round. The Cardinals ultimately came up short, 51-14, in their quest for a playoff win.
