The Hidalgo Lady Pirates advanced to the Class 4A Area Round, led by Savannah Sanchez and Barbie Gutierrez, who scored a team high 12 points each in a 55-51 win against Aransas Pass on Tuesday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Karla Cantu contributed with eight points and Viviana Chavez netted nine points in the win.
Hidalgo next plays Crystal City at a time and place to be determined.

LAREDO UNITED 61, McALLEN HIGH 50: At Alice, McAllen High’s season ended with a loss to Laredo United. The Lady Bulldogs finished 24-10, 10-2 on the year.
CLASS 5A BI-DISTRICT
LAREDO CIGARROA 60, DONNA HIGH 44: At Alice, Donna High fell to Cigarroa in the bi-district round after an 8-6 season in District 32-5A.
LAREDO NIXON 62, MERCEDES 48: At Roma, Mercedes season ended against Laredo Nixon. Coach Monica Meza had led the Lady Tigers back to the postseason in her second year at the helm with a second place finish in District 32-5A.
