The girls basketball playoffs are here and along with it come some very intriguing matchups.

While the majority of the games are set for Monday, there is one set for Tuesday.

HARLINGEN SOUTH AT EDINBURG VELA: The Lady Hawks will be looking to break an unwelcomed skid. For the past four seasons, Harlingen South has been knocked out of the postseason in the bi-district round.

This season, South finished the season on a high note by defeating Weslaco East 42-40 and Brownsville Rivera 68-58 in their final two games of the season.

SAN BENITO AT EDINBURG HIGH: The San Benito Lady Greyhounds finished the district season with an 8-6 record.

After riding a wave of confidence, the Lady ’Hounds finished the season on a two-game skid, losing to Weslaco 40-27 and Harlingen High 47-40. Regardless, they are in the postseason for the first time since 2015.

PSJA MEMORIAL AT HARLINGEN HIGH: The Lady Cardinals start their postseason journey on Tuesday.

Harlingen finished the season 24-11 overall and 11-2 in District 32-6A. The Lady Cardinals missed out on the district title by one game. The defending district champions lost the title to the Weslaco Lady Panthers, who finished the season with a 12-1 mark.

The Lady Cardinals will look to continue their success in the postseason as the program has reached the area round four years in a row.

LA FERIA VS. ROCKPORT-FULTON: The Lionettes finished the season with a record of 12-2 and finished on a six-game win streak. However, it wasn’t enough as the Lionettes fell one game behind the District 32-4A champion Hidalgo Lady Pirates, who finished the season at 12-1.

The Lionettes will play the Lady Pirates at 6 p.m. Monday in Bishop.
