Santa Rosa’s Robles commits to Our Lady of the Lake University

“I’ve committed my whole life to softball and I’m really happy that it is finally paying off,” Robles said.

She picked up the bat at 5 and now, years later, she’s swinging her way to the next level.

“Her hard work paid off,” said Erica Molina, former Santa Rosa softball coach. “She is a great hitter and the sky’s the limit for her.”

Molina said Robles is going to do great and that Our Lady of the Lake is getting a great ball player who ready to take the field.

Robles signed her scholarship at Santa Rosa High School, surrounded by family and friends who were all there to celebrate with her and wish her the best.

“I’m really proud to be here to be able to continue what I love,” Robles said. “I’m really happy because I have been working on this for as long as I can remember.”

Robles is not only a softball player. She is the captain of the varsity cheerleaders, a guard for the Lady Warriors basketball team and was selected to the volleyball All-Star team this season.

Robles would have liked to have signed her scholarship on her birthday, but the basketball team was scheduled to play on that day so she signed a day before and celebrated her birthday on signing day.

“It’s a big relief that I’m going to continue doing what I love while getting an education,” Robles said.

Santa Rosa Superintendent Heriberto Villarreal also had a few kind words for Robles.

“Congratulations to Jazzlyn. This is quite an honor. On behalf of the district, we want to wish her the best as she moves forward to Our Lady of the Lake to play softball,” he said.

Robles said she is considering a teaching degree as her focus in college when she is not playing softball.

“I’m really happy that everyone is really excited for me,” Robles said. “I feel really blessed.”
