Edcouch-Elsa finished its stay at the state 7-on-7 tournament Saturday in nice form.
The Yellowjackets went 2-1 in the Division I consolation bracket, beating Round Rock McNeil 42-30 and Tomball Memorial 40-13 before falling to San Antonio O’Connor 26-21 in the quarterfinals.
Edcouch-Elsa finished with an overall record of 2-4 in College Station.
Mission Veterans Memorial finished the tournament 1-3 after falling to Lindale 18-14 in its first game of the consolation bracket Saturday morning.
In all, including Hidalgo and La Feria in the Division II bracket, Valley teams finished a combined 5-15 at the state tournament.
It was the Pirates’ first trip to the tournament.
