La Joya Juarez-Lincoln snapped a 10-game losing streak in district contests, knocking off Palmview 21-15 on Saturday at La Joya ISD Stadium in La Joya.

Carlos Gonzalez scored the final touchdown for Juarez-Lincoln, which did a good job of mixing up the play calls and moving the chains throughout the game, coach Tommy Garcia said. On defense, the Huskies did enough to limit the Lobos’ high-powered rushing attack.

“Our defense came ready to play,” Garcia said.

Juarez-Lincoln improves to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in District 30-6A. Palmview drops to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in district, moving into a three-way tie for third place with La Joya High and Mission High.

“It’s like I told the kids: We still want to get in the playoffs somehow,” Garcia said. “We told them if we win out, we still have a chance. The kids came ready to play.”

Juarez-Lincoln closes out the season with Mission High and La Joya High.
