McAllen Rowe quarterback Hector Bosquez completed 19 straight passes to the start Friday’s game against Laredo United on Friday, but he wasn’t even the best signal-caller of the night in the Longhorns’ 65-16 win at the SAC in Laredo.

Laredo United’s Ignazio Tellez threw for seven touchdowns. He passes for 234 yards in the first half alone.

The Warriors dropped to 1-3 heading into the start of District 30-6A play next week.

PORT ISABEL 39, VALLEY VIEW 12: At Hidalgo, Alex De Los Santos led the charge with 220 yards on 14 carries, scoring three times for Port Isabel (4-0). As expected, the Tarpons’ rushing attack was the focal point of the game.

Port Isabel led off the scoring with a 65-yard touchdown run by De Los Santos on its first play from scrimmage.

The Tarpons’ ground attack continued to tear up the rain-soaked blue turf at Valley View Stadium for the remainder of the half, scoring on another scamper by De Los Santos, this time for 74 yards, and a 39-yard quarterback keeper by Marco Colorado. Misael Nava added a 31-yard field goal late in the first quarter to make the score 25-0 at halftime.

The Tarpons continued to apply pressure, and on the opening drive of the second half Joel Rodriguez III raced to the end zone from 53 yards out to make the score 32-0.

The Tigers finally found the end zone near the end of the third quarter when they scored twice following a pair of fumble recoveries deep in Port Isabel territory. Carlos Batis punched the ball in from five yards out and Daniel Lince found Chezzare Gonzalez on a twenty-yard touchdown pass, making it 32-12.

Valley View continued to fight but penalties and turnovers plagued them throughout the game, preventing them from scoring, despite being given many chances late courtesy of four Tarpon fumbles. The Tigers couldn’t muster enough successful drives and fell 39-12 to Port Isabel.

With 10:55 remaining in the third quarter, an unknown P.I. player suffered an injury and lied motionless for several minutes before a stretcher could be summoned. The player was then taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance. The identity and severity of the injury has not been confirmed. Following the injury, the game was delayed until a new ambulance had arrived on site.

BROWNSVILLE ST. JOSEPH 62, PHARR ORATORY 0: At Brownsville, the Ocelots couldn’t get much going all evening against the tough Bloodhounds defense, finishing with 115 yards in total offense, 85 of those on the ground.

LA JOYA PALMVIEW 7, ROMA 7 (OT): At Roma, the Gladiators and Lobos headed into overtime tied at 7 before inclement weather forced the game to be called off in the extra session.

The Lobos are 2-1-1 heading into district play next week. Roma is 2-1-1.
