For the first time this season, the La Joya Palmview Lobos are ranked in RGVSports.com’s Top 10 Poll.

The Lobos, who have been one of the surprise teams in the Valley this season, are No. 9. They are 6-1-1 and can clinch at least a share of the District 30-6A title with a win over McAllen Memorial on Friday in La Joya.

That game is also an opportunity for Memorial to clinch at least a share of the district title. The second-ranked Mustangs (7-1) beat rival McAllen High in Week 9. Despite the loss, voters did not penalize the Bulldogs (6-3) too much, keeping them at No. 3. McHi is idle in Week 10.

Port Isabel returns to the poll at No. 10. The 7-1 Tarpons defeated West Oso last week and play host to Orange Grove on Friday.
Mission Veterans stayed at No. 8. The 6-2 Patriots blasted Valley View 49-0 in Week 9 and play host to Rio Grande City on Thursday.

San Benito (6-2) kept its No. 7 ranking. The Greyhounds beat Brownsville Lopez last week and welcome Harlingen South on Friday.

Weslaco East (7-1) is No. 6 again. The Wildcats scored a big win over PSJA North and look to keep their winning ways going on the road Friday against Edinburg High.

Mercedes is No. 5. The Tigers (7-1) take on PSJA Southwest at home Friday. Edinburg Vela is No. 4. The SaberCats (8-1) escaped a scare from RGC last week and are on a bye in Week 10.

Maintaining the top spot is Sharyland High, which defeated Sharyland Pioneer on Friday. Sharyland is 7-1 and takes on Valley View on Friday.

Brownsville Veterans Memorial and Los Fresnos dropped out of the Top 10.
