Tarpons will have to wait for title chance

STAFF REPORT

ORANGE GROVE — Due to heavy rain, Port Isabel will have to wait one day longer to try to pull into a tie for the lead in District 16-4A Division II.

Friday night’s game with Orange Grove was postponed to give the school district extra time to get the field ready.

The Tarpons (7-1, 2-1 in district) will face the Bulldogs (7-1, 3-0) at 5:30 tonight in Orange Grove.

“It rained really badin Orange Grove. The field was underwater,” Port Isabel coach Monty Stumbaugh said. “They had a lot of rain and are trying to get the field playable by (today).”

The schedule change doesn’t change anything within the Port Isabel game plan.

“We just have to play (today) instead of (Friday), it all means the same. (It’s) just a day later,” Stumbaugh said. “We’ve already prepared, we just have to go out and execute.”
