Sharyland loses to Cedar Park, out again in regional quarterfinals

SAN ANTONIO — Sharyland High hit the third-round wall once again, closing out the season with a 52-24 loss to Cedar Park at Heroes Stadium.

A late touchdown from Cesar Chapa to Marco Sanchez helped soften the blow in what was the Rattlers’ worst defeat since losing to San Antonio Madison 45-21 and 40-13 — also in the regional quarterfinals — the past two years.

Sharyland (11-2) hardly stood toe-to-toe with the more athletic Timberwolves (10-3).

Thomas Hutchings scored on the very first play on a 58-yard burst to the end zone. And on the next series, quarterback Amir Alzer broke out for a 56-yard score to take a 14-0 lead.

The largely set the pace for Cedar Park, which dominated throughout.
