McAllen Memorial’s Trevor Speights carried 10 times for 137 and two touchdowns as the Mustangs secured an outright District 30-6A title with a 56-0 win over Mission High on Friday in McAllen.

“A total team win, and we’re just happy to get them a district championship,” coach Bill Littleton said.

Memorial will face Del Rio in the playoffs next week.

LA JOYA HIGH 24, LA JOYA JUAREZ-LINCOLN 14: At La Joya, La Joya High reached the four-win mark for the first time since the La Joya ISD split and can head into next week’s playoff matchup with Laredo United on a high note after defeating La Joya Juarez-Lincoln.

EDINBURG ECONOMEDES 34, EDINBURG NORTH 23: At Edinburg, Economedes closed out its season with a second district win to send Edinburg North into the playoffs on a down note.

HARLINGEN HIGH 21, HARLINGEN SOUTH 3: At Harlingen, Harlingen High won the battle in the trenches and methodically ran Harlingen South into submission to pick up a seventh-straight Bird Bowl win.

PSJA HIGH 42, DONNA NORTH 3: At Donna, PSJA High clinched a playoff spot with a dominant victory over Donna North.

MERCEDES 41, BROWNSVILLE PORTER 19: At Brownsville, a wet field and slick ball made for a sloppy game, but Mercedes overcame the elements to clinch sole possession of the District 32-5A title after defeating Porter.

DISTRICT 16-4A DIVISION I

ZAPATA 22, GRULLA 9: At Rio Grande City, Zapata moved to 8-3 and 3-1 in district play by dropping Grulla, which falls to 1-8, 1-3. Both teams will have playoff games next week.

KING 48, HIDALGO 21: At Hidalgo, Kingsville King won to keep Hidalgo winless in district play.

DISTRICT 16-2A DIVISION I

LA VILLA 58, SANTA MARIA 0: At La Villa, La Villa dominated Santa Maria to pick up its third win overall and second in district play. Santa Maria drops to 3-7, 0-5.
