Roma’s season ended Saturday with a 25-21, 25-8, 25-21 loss to Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway at Falfurrias.

“Execution,” Lady Gladiators coach Angie Garcia said. “We didn’t execution as well as we should have. But overall I think the girls fought. And that’s all we could ask for.”

Roma (23-17), the No. 4 seed in District 31-5A, advanced to the playoffs this season for a third consecutive year. Last year, the Lady Gladiators advanced past the first round for the first time in 16 years.

“We’re extremely happy,” Garcia said. “It’s the second year that we’re bi-district champions and area finalists. We’re definitely proud and we have nothing to be ashamed of. That’s basically what I told the girls. They should be very proud.”

“We’ve already done it back-to-back (getting to the area round). They’ve started a tradition. Hopefully we continue it. We have a good base now.”

Luz Gonzalez had five kills and three blocks. Ale Galindo contributed four kills, five assists, two digs and two aces. And Kassy Rocha chipped in with three kills, three blocks and nine digs.
