Thirty-two boys hoops teams from across the state are set to clash on the hardwood in La Joya as the 2nd Annual La Joya Packs’ South Texas Shootout Basketball Tournament is set to tipoff today with the championship game slated for Saturday.
La Joya High, La Joya Palmview, La Joya Juarez-Lincoln and the Thelma R. Salinas STEM High School are set to host eight teams spread across two pools at each location.
The La Joya High gym will play host to Pool A: La Joya High, Eagle Pass, Grulla and Brownsville Porter; and Pool B: Mission Veterans, San Antonio Cornerstone, San Benito and Weslaco.
The STEM Campus will host Pool C: Edcouch-Elsa, San Antonio, McAllen Memorial and Donna North, and Pool D: Laredo LBJ, Corpus Christi Veterans, Rio Grande City and Edinburg North.
At La Joya Palnview High School, Pool E: La Joya Palmview, Katy Seven Lakes, Laredo Cigarroa and Brownsville Lopez, and Pool F: Harlingen High, Austin Westlake, Edinburg High and PSJA Southwest.
At Juarez-Lincoln High School, Pool G: Donna High, Laredo Alexander, Weslaco East and Eagle Pass Win, and Pool H: Juarez-Lincoln, Edinburg Vela, PSJA Memorial and Corpus Christi Moody.
Day two of the tournament features the last games of pool play before the top teams from each pool face off Friday afternoon.
